I am a disabled minority woman on Disability who just recently rented from a federally funded organization, (HUD) and at first I was contacted with the option of renting a studio, which would not accommodate my belongings for space, I am in need of a 1 bedroom.. so I was told the week prior that I had to completely go back on the list, come in and complete another application to start the waiting list again. so meanwhile I received another call the following week stating that now they have a one bedroom already ready.. please come take a look, so I do and I was told that if I did not take this right now, they had no clue when I would be able to get the opportunity again, and that they had to fill that apartment by the end of the day, I have never decided on anything that fast, so I started the paper work which went well to completion, and I was told that they usually get people in on no money down and work out a payment arrangement.. so I gave a fifty dollar money order, and the place is now rented... so and moving as I was back and forth cleaning and moving in small necessities I would speak and become familiar with the neighbors, and they each would share info of their encounters with the lack of service provided for the upkeep of the said property on South Genesee St Waukegan where primarily seniors live, and several have reside there for over 30 yrs.. the conditions are deplorable in my opinion...out back in the yard the septic waste is backing up really high, and stinks to high heavens, you can't tolerate your window being open, but can still smell it with the window closed, there are Roaches everywhere, I never lived with them, and I don't want to start, the roof of the buildings need to be completely redone, there is huge dust bunnies and dead bugs of some sort flying out from the antiquated vent fan in the bathroom above the bathtub, someone slapped a coat of paint over the brown spots from busted rusted pipes that had burst at some point in the ceiling, and the floor because it is not level when the roof leaks the puddles go from where it starts to trickle to a complete round circle in an odd place in the living room floor, and dries up golden brown, I mentioned it to the property manager, and she said that she would go and have someone clean it up, however when I spoke with her again she (Ms Arizmendi, the property manager said that they said it would not come up from the floor... well some of my belongings are already in the unit, and I am disabled, so I took some ammonia and a brush to it and scrubbed it, it came up but my back has been hurting since that.. I am going to file a complaint with hud also because I resent someone trying to take advantage of me just to have an unsafe, problematic place filled, just because the have a deadline approaching, they are unconcerned with the conditions of what it is that they are renting only because they have a job to do and they themselves don't live there... deplorable, and inhumane!! the woman that I spoke with lost some of her bedding, and furnishing due to this problem, and she had just moved from that unit a few feet in another one for the same compound... I was just about floored with this one, they may not give a damn about where someone like me lives, and under what conditions, but I matter, and so does this, and it's unacceptable...OSHA will be contacted. the woman also had to throw out her table, and she said I just moved out of there, and I ain't seen anybody up on that roof fixing it. what ever it is that drained from the ceiling was burning my eyes really bad to the point I almost couldn't hold them open... something has to give, yesterday

They don't answer calls and do not enforce code.
